![]() Don’t buy hay buy grass starters instead. I also save all the hay that I get in the mail or that I get from festivals, and that's sitting in a chest as an "emergency backup" in case I'm not able to fill the silos by the end of Fall. Even when silo has benn an useful object in Stardew Valley already, there are a few tips, which are necessary to take the most of it: Build it as soon as possible players usually build s silo once they need it and that is a mistake. Silos, how to build them, how to fill them, how to use them and how to get hay in the process. I don't bother pulling hay out of the silos. When complete, it stores hay from grass cut on the farm. Do this all year long and you should be able to fill all 5 silos without a problem by the end of Fall. The Silo is a type of farm building purchasable from Robin at the Carpenters Shop. To make sure everything is full up by the end of Fall you'll want to do as Ereo suggested, occasionally thinning it out with the scythe (and I use the golden scythe as you get more hay from it), then letting all the holes you punched in it have a chance to grow back before doing it again. The animals rarely get past the statues, too. If you have 6 chickens, itll withdraw 6 hay at a time, so you can use that to empty the silo and toss it all in a chest before cutting more grass. This will mean it will only take up 21 spaces of farmland, and if you give the interior a layout like in the image below youll have 129 interactable items in that space, which are all easily. IIRC CA is planning to let us move buildings around so Im not fussed where I put. Silos can go anywhere so I put one in the top left corner and one near my Barn (near the top entrance). For your 128 interactable items, I would recommend building a Shed and upgrading it to a Big Shed. Silos are a farm building in Stardew Valley, and, in fact, they are one of the most important ones you can construct. If you wanted to place your silo in the same spot youll either need to revert to an earlier version or play around with a savefile editor. Robin is the town carpenter and runs her own Carpenters Shop, at her home, from 9am to 5pm every day except Tuesday and part of Friday (closes early). In the coop/barn, theres a little thing full of hay. This is the optimised plan, using 15 Junimo Huts. If you go to the showcase and take a look at my Amethyst's Purple farm you can see how much open space I have in the most recent screenies, and just know that all of that open space has grass growing in it when it isn't Winter. Robin is a villager who resides at 24 Mountain Road, on The Mountain, with her husband Demetrius, daughter Maru, and son Sebastian. I can confirm that 5 silos full at the end of Fall will guarantee you make it through the Winter without having to buy hay. My beach farm, I have two barns and 1 coop, all of them full. Once the silo is built, players can use it to store hay.
